EXPLOITATION PREFEASIBILITY ASSESSMENT

DRAIN AND WELL PREFEASIBILITY STUDY
EL CANELO BASIN

The Project considered a feasibility assessment regarding the installation of a drain and extraction well at the Basin of the El Canelo Stream, Metropolitan Region. The Project included detailed hydro-geological mapping covering the entire basin, the development of bi-dimensional geophysical profiles using Vertical Electric Probes, infiltrometry tests and mathematical modeling to interpret the results of the hydraulic tests.

The Project helped to select the best location for future extraction of water resources and included detailed engineering, technical specifications of a drain and an extraction well, generating an increase in the extraction potential of the basin with a five factor, from 9 l/s to 45 l/s.

DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT OF HYDRAULIC TESTS

SLUG TEST
CELULOSA ARAUCO WASTE DUMP

The Project included the design, execution and interpretation of the results of a slug test conducted at the monitoring wells of the Celulosa Arauco Waste Dump. The Project involved establishing the geometrical and hydraulic parameters of the surface aquifer at the site, the measurement of the dynamic liquid levels using pressure transducers, and a mathematical modeling to interpret the results of the hydraulic tests.

The Project was used to characterize the hydraulic parameters of the aquifer, and provided information to design eventual extraction wells to be developed at the site, in order to optimize the use of resources in the event of future environmental clean-ups
